With its roots in the Middle East (one of the founders being a native Iraqi), Hailoo was founded to create a comprehensive information resource for the Middle East and Arabic speakers in general. The name "Hailoo" (Arabic "حلو") was chosen because it is phonetically similar to the Arabic word for "sweet."
